ARIANE L. WHITTEMORE
I began this journey nearly 29 years ago as a GS-5 budget trainee for the Marine Corps. Early in my career, I found the Navy entrusted young civilians and military members with great responsibility, authority and leadership.
Leveraging these opportunities, I have enjoyed many exciting and humbling experiences. Whether it was flying in a Marine Corps Harrier, participating in Navy SEABEE and urban warfare training, or spending long hours, nights and weekends in the Pentagon working on critical national security issues, having a career with the Department of the Navy has given me a unique and rewarding opportunity to serve.
Since becoming a member of the Senior Executive Service, I have also had the opportunity to recruit, coach and mentor the next generation of SES leadership — and they’re even better than the last!
