Execs reflect on rewards, responsibilities

Being a federal employee means serving in a wide variety of roles, often in distant corners of the globe – providing assistance to hurricane survivors, repairing ships in the Persian Gulf, helping refugees in Africa, and conducting science missions at the South Pole and in space.
As the nation celebrates Public Service Recognition Week, some of the 353 senior executives and professionals who won the 2008 Presidential Rank Award share memories of their best days as federal employees.
