Q. I am 65 years old with 24 years of government service. I plan to retire on Jan. 31, 2014, with an excess of 400 sick hours. Will I get paid for those hours? If not, what will become of them? I will have 240 annual hours.
A. While you won’t be paid for your unused hours of sick leave, they will be added to your actual service and used in the computation of your annuity. On the other hand, you’ll receive a lump-sum payment for your unused annual leave.
