Q. I am retired law enforcement officer. At what age does my special retirement supplement stop, as a provision for early retirement? I’ve heard that it stops at your minimum retirement age, which, for me, I was told, is 56. I’ve also heard 59 and 62.

A. It ends at age 62. However, if you have earnings from wages or self-employment that exceed the annual Social Security limit between the day you reach your MRA and age 62, your supplement would be reduced or suspended.
